Stephenie Meyer was born December 24, 1973 in Connecticut. Her family settled in Phoenix by the time she was four, and she still resides in Arizona. The unusual spelling of her name was given to her by her father, Stephen (Stephen + ie). Stephenie is the second of three girls; Emily and Heidi and she also has three brothers younger than herself and her sisters; Jacob, Paul, and Seth. She went to high school in Scottsdale, Arizona and was awarded a National Merit Scholarship, which she used to pay her way through Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah. She majored in English, but concentrated on literature rather than creative writing, mostly because she didn’t consider reading books “work”.
After the publication of her first novel, Twilight, booksellers chose Stephenie Meyer as one of the “most promising new authors of 2005″ (Publishers Weekly). Stephenie Meyer is the author of the books Twilight and its sequels New Moon and Eclipse. She has also begun writing the first draft of Breaking Dawn and Midnight Sun, additional sequels in the series. The Host, another of Meyer’s books, will be released on May 6, 2008.
Stephenie says that the idea for Twilight came to her in a dream about a girl and a sparkling vampire sitting in a meadow on June 2, 2003, the dream is now part of Chapter 13 of the book. After writing and editing the novel, she signed a three-book deal with Little, Brown and Company.
The sequel to Twilight, New Moon, had an unintentional staggered release all over North America, beginning in early August 2006. The third book in the series, Eclipse, was released on August 7, 2007. The fourth book, Breaking Dawn, is set for release on August 2, 2008. Meyer has also revealed that Breaking Dawn will be the last book written from Bella Swan’s perspective. She has also said on her website that there will be more than four books. Her other novel, Midnight Sun, will be a companion piece to the series rather than a genuine sequel, it will describe Twilight from Edward Cullen’s view. The first chapter of Midnight Sun has been posted on Meyer’s website, www.stepheniemeyer.com, though she has stated that it will be edited and otherwise changed before being released as a novel.
As fans all around the world, also known as twi-hards, await very impatiently for Breaking Dawn and Midnight Sun to be released, the cast of the movie version of Twilight is onset filming. The cast of the movie has been very carefully chosen to specifications of the book, with Kristen Stewart as Isabella Swan and Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen. It has been said that Twilight is going to be the best movie of 2008 and many fans (me included) can’t wait for the arrival of the movie to theatres in December 2008. The story of Isabella Swan and Edward Cullen is more than likely going to be seen as epic for this generation.
Quotes from the Twilight Saga;
“Of all the things about me that could frighten you, you worry about my driving.”
-Edward Cullen
“I’ve decided that as long as I was going to Hell, I might as well do it thoroughly.”
-Edward Cullen
“If I could dream at all, it would be about you. And I’m not ashamed of it.”
-Edward Cullen
“I hear voices in my mind and you’re worried that you’re the freak?”
-Edward Cullen
“About three things I was certain. First, Edward Cullen was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him, and I don’t know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.”
-Isabella Swan
“And so the lion fell in love with the lamb…,” he murmured. I looked away, hiding my eyes as I thrilled to the word.
“What a stupid lamb,” I sighed.
“What a sick, masochistic lion.”
-Edward & Bella
“Breakfast time,” he said eventually, casually…
So I clutched my throat with both hands and stared at him with wide eyes.
Shock crossed his face.
“Kidding!” I snickered. “And you said I couldn’t act!”
-Isabella & Edward
“Do I dazzle you?” -Edward Cullen
Stephenie Meyer’s the Twilight Saga is about (Isabella Swan) a girl that moves in with her Dad, and she starts attending school where she ultimately meets Edward Cullen who she later learns is a vampire.
It’s a good series, read, with lots of romance and a good chunk of adventure. The Twilight Series is AMAZING! If you are a guy and you read it you can gain knowledge about girls! lots of girls (like Bella) are seeking the “edwards” types. Bella’s (Isabella) life changes after she meets Edward. Her best friend is a werewolf!
It sounds strange, but really is a great book and it keeps you interested from one book in the series to the next.
I can hardly wait for the next book comes out! Every single one of the books in this series is a page turner. I think girls will like these books the most, but guys should learn a few things from Edward Cullen (be romantic and charming). It’s hard to explain the book…. just read it for yourself… you wont be disappointed. It’s a must read.
Thanks Stephenie Meyer!
