King Henry VIII was born on June 28, 1491 in Greenwich Palace and was the third child of Henry Tudor VII and Elizabeth of York. Of Henry VIII’s six siblings, only three had survived infancy, Arthur (the Prince of Wales), Margaret, and Mary. Since he was the second son, and not expected to become king, Henry was being prepared for the church and there was little recorded of his childhood. What is known of Henry VIII’s chilhood is that he attended the wedding of Arthur and his wife, Katharine of Aragon, in November 1501 when he was 10 years old. (more…)

Jane Austen was born December 16th, 1775 at Steventon, Hampshire, England. She was the seventh child out of eight and the second daughter out of two. Her parents were Reverend George Austen(1731-1805), he was the local Church of England clergyman, and his wife Cassandra(1739-1827). Jane Austen was educated at home mostly by her father until leaving for boarding school with her older sister Cassandra in early 1783. They went briefly to be taught by a Mrs. Cawley (the sister of one of their uncles), who lived first in Oxford and then moved to Southampton. Stephenie Meyer was born December 24, 1973 in Connecticut. Her family settled in Phoenix by the time she was four, and she still resides in Arizona. The unusual spelling of her name was given to her by her father, Stephen (Stephen + ie). Stephenie is the second of three girls; Emily and Heidi and she also has three brothers younger than herself and her sisters; Jacob, Paul, and Seth. She went to high school in Scottsdale, Arizona and was awarded a National Merit Scholarship, which she used to pay her way through Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah. She majored in English, but concentrated on literature rather than creative writing, mostly because she didn’t consider reading books “work”. (more…)
